Went with "casual", as I hardly wear anything besides jeans for trousers. Otherwise it could have been called smart casual or something. For meetings, conferences, presentations and the like I'll go with smart or business casual, depending on the venue.

For some reason that escapes my imagination, our new IT guy, who started just last week, has been coming to work this week in a full business suit, tie and everything. It's a riot watching him getting under the tables, screwdriver in hand, and trying not to get his trousers dirty.

Its meant to be a suit though with the weather being so hot and saving power being order of the day there's no need for a jacket or tie.

but started to get old having to iron shirts
Don't you have Mexicans doing that for you? I never iron my shirts myself, it's way too cheap to have it done here.

No.  Laundry service is usually an Asian thing, though it's mostly just white people in my area.  But yeah, I have a place close by that charges around $2 per shirt.  Problem is I rarely think about having my shirts professionally cleaned/pressed until it's the night before.

I had a part-time job as a bank teller in college and frequently had to iron a shirt after going out drinking.  I used to impress my friends with my ability to perfectly iron a shirt without burning myself while pissed drunk.  I tended to use like a half a can of spray starch due to my aim being so far off, but I got the job done.

I don't even think to ask my wife to iron my shirts, since I've always just done it myself anyway.  But that always causes her to catch shit from my mother in law when she's in town :D

Full suit with tie and cufflinks (I hate suits without a tie).

Most people who complain about wearing suits, I find, have never worn one that is, along with the shirt, properly fitted to them.

That said, right now it is 'dress-down August' where I work, very much appreciated because public transport is unbearable in summer in a suit, and my office does not have air conditioning.

Is your office in rural Vietnam?

I dunno - barristers robes aren't terribly flattering.

You know I just realized - for as long as Languish has existed I have meant to post a picture of me in my robes.  8+ years later and I still haven't done it.

Do they just keep them all at the courthouse?  I think U.S. judges stash their robes in their offices.  It's not like you're going to wear them out to grab a sub sandwich, unless you had to.

P.S.: The collars are pretty sweet.

Keep 'em in my office.

Collars are kind of a PITA.  The tabs are straight out of the 18th century.

They look cool, though.

Your office is in the courthouse, though, correct?  The only prosecutors' office I'm physically familiar with (the assistant solicitor that handles CDV cases) is in the same building as the CDV court.
