Thing is, you guys are all talking about more or less "legitimate" porn, that you can download from a pay site or for free. The OP is talking about pervs being busted, presumably for having illegitimate porn, like kiddie porn. That stuff is no doubt somewhat hard to get, being illegal, so naturally the pervs in question are going to want to save it when they find some.

Every pic you look at online is "stored" in your cache though; and even if you delete them they are merely deleted from the catalog (or whatever it's called) and actually remain on the hard drive until overwritten by some other stuff. I'd kind of assumed that a lot of pervs didn't know this 

So when you do that, how come your hard drive capacity increases when you delete the pics, if the stuff is still "stored." I mean I know that's correct, but I never understood it.

Some space is marked as free, but actually isn't free, it has the deleted files on it.  At some point this space will be reclaimed by new files, at which point the old deleted ones will be overwritten.  Until that happens, though, the old deleted files can be restored.

If I was into that sort of thing I would have it on an external hard drive or USB data stick and bring it out of its hiding place when I wanted to indulge.

Fair enough, though if the cops already had enough on you to search your computer, they would probably search your room for hard drives as well.

I do watch quality films over and over, but porn, meh. I'm just not that into seeing stuff over and over. (certain performers though I keep my eyes peeled for, though.)

Why would you hoard movies or tv, by the same logic? One rarely goes back to rewatch them and technically they are all available if you want to rewatch them.

Usually when this happens it is dude getting his laptop searched at an airport or something.  If you are busted to the point somebody has a search warrant for your home...well that is something else entirely.

Nah - even on the kiddie porn files they usually have a ton of "legitimate" porn as well on their hard drives.
