Which one? 1998 or 2019?

Have to say Sunderland fans were very gracious in defeat both times and Charlton fans have a real soft spot for them as a result.

1998.
I was only a kid so... It was painful.
I'd forgotten all about 2019. League 1 is cursed.

I realized it was too much work to follow all of Arsenal, Palace, all the teams in League One, and now West Ham (because my three year old loves the fact they blow bubbles and she loves that their GK wore pink) so I've decided to cut back on Palace and the entirety of League One and just follow Charlton.

Of course they then promptly lost their first game since February

Welcome to my world! Last game of our worst season in a century. There's always next season...

Josquius

Thank fuck that season is over.
Amazing collapse by Sunderland with seriously wonky board decisions.
Lots of rumours that Will Still might be appointed as manager sometime soon. He's been sacked by Reims and there's claims he has been spotted house hunting.
This guy seems really interesting. 31, worked his way up through the coaching ranks, educated in Football Manager....
I have a bad feeling. His implosion in France happened.
But still. Fingers crossed we can have a proper season next year.

Sad to see Leicester go up but happy at least one relegated team won't be making it back. Hopefully its Southampton who stay down.

My localest "big" non league team, Gateshead, won the major trophy for non league teams.
Hurray.
Especially good for them after they qualified for the playoffs to be promoted to the football league, only to be told they couldn't take part because their stadium lease (council owned) isn't secure enough.

The Danish league end play is pretty intense, with four clubs in close contention.

Brøndby IF (currently #1, 30 matches, 59 points) just beat FC Nordsjælland (currently #4, 30 matches, 56 points).

Tomorrow FC København are playing FC Midtjylland (currently #2 and #3, 29 matches, 58 points). A win will put either team in the #1 position, a tie will see three clubs at 59 points with 30 matches played.

There are 32 matches in total. Given the schedule, any of the top four clubs have paths to victory; and the determination could potentially be made on the last day.

Exciting times :)

Cool.
I know zero of the league other than when its teams crop up in Euros and I remember reading a big piece about Midtjylland's model some time ago. Is it usually competitive?
Really nice it can manage so

What's with the naming of the clubs after regions rather than towns/cities/neighbourhoods?

What with having either?
At least, to distinguish them if from the same city.  :P

Mergers of town teams I gather.

Yeah, most of of those "regional" clubs were created by amalgamation when chasing European soccer became crucial for club success.

FC Copenhagen did it first, and had a period of dominance as a result. The other clubs (other than BIF) amalgamated to compete - and it looks like they've succeeded.
