Are you going to post that "Palin for Prez" sign in the front yard, or are you going to be ashamed of your GOP vote in 2012 and just not tell anybody?

C.

At least your pop still has his pension.  Unless Maryland goes belly up I suppose.

QuoteOne obvious answer is that many more people are in prison than in the past.
Except for anyone remotely related to investment banking during the 2008 Wall Street crisis.
Madoff?
Didn't help, but also doesn't count.
Sure it counts.  He was definitely related to investment banking.
I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.

I'm still trying to understand what you think my parents have to do with the Wall Street shits that practically folded the American economic model, required the Feds to bail them out, and doled out bonuses with TARP money while locking down the credit they were to extend to the American people, and avoiding indictments in the process.

But since you want to drag parents into this, how's the Reverend, you kimchi halfbreed?

I figured there might be a personal connection that would explain why you've latched on so fiercely to the Michael Moore school of jail all the bankers in the absence of any evidence of, you know, actual law-breaking.

Dad is still cranky.  Nothing new.

8 years of ringside seats watching the GOP and their favorite cokehead singlehandedly destroying the economy sometimes fosters a sense of social consciousness and awakening.

Except for you Platonic cavedwellers.  Suckers.

See, I don't buy it.  I know you're not stupid enough to believe that.

There may also be a medical reason for the decline in crime. For decades, doctors have known that children with lots of lead in their blood are much more likely to be aggressive, violent and delinquent. In 1974, the Environmental Protection Agency required oil companies to stop putting lead in gasoline. At the same time, lead in paint was banned for any new home (though old buildings still have lead paint, which children can absorb).

Tests have shown that the amount of lead in Americans' blood fell by four-fifths between 1975 and 1991. A 2007 study by the economist Jessica Wolpaw Reyes contended that the reduction in gasoline lead produced more than half of the decline in violent crime during the 1990s in the U.S. and might bring about greater declines in the future. Another economist, Rick Nevin, has made the same argument for other nations.

Very interesting. :hmm:

Weijun, you new or is this just a new nick of an old hand?
It is far better for the truth to tear my flesh to pieces, then for my soul to wander through darkness in eternal damnation.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

I am new here.  I have been around the Paradox OT (same nick) for a few years, but I am just starting to branch out.

I'm surprised I approved you.  Normally, any username that looks Chinesy I delete out of hand.  We don't need any herbal Viagra or counterfeit sneakers here.  Still, I suppose you haven't tried to sell me anything yet.

Huh - I thought it sounded Star Trek-y at first.  But I realized the spelling is different.
Posts here are my own private opinions.  I do not speak for my employer.
