The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

So I finished my project of 3D-printing and painting a full set of tiles for Terraforming Mars

I'm neither a good or patient painter, and this is my most ambitious project so far.

Love it!  I won't ask what it cost.
The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.   -G'Kar

You can, it's actually not been very expensive. Each tile is roughly 30c on filament+power, and I made around 70. Then I spent around 20€ on paint.

Being lazy is bad; unless you still get what you want, then it's called "patience".
Hubris must be punished. Severely.

Neat.  I guess my impression of filament costs is way obsolete.

Quote from: Neil on January 30, 2025, 03:48:17 PMI've gotten back into Battletech after years and years of not playing it.  A large number of people who have been doing the Warhammer thing have taken up the hobby and found it to be much more affordable compared to what they're used to.
Collecting Fabroge eggs would be more affordable than Warhammer.

So, as I feared the China tariffs are ravaging the industry.

I expect I'll lose a few hundred in undelivered games. Watcha gonna do, I can take the hit, but I feel for all the people that are going to lose their livelihoods to stupidity. Plus the hobby will probably regress back to the 2000s.

It really is looking hopeless for the industry right now. I wonder who will be left standing if this keeps up.

I think the 2000s is optimistic.  The early 90s is more likely, when Eurogames weren't popular yet and wargames hadn't embraced new ideas about modeling conflict.

I am guessing I better give up waiting for price drops on stuff.
