This has been the "correct" way to call what used to be called "safe sex" for a while now - maybe it's just a gay thing if you haven't heard of it.

Anyway, it is meant to remind people that "safe sex" is a misnomer, as no sex is 100% safe - it's just that with "safer sex" you are reducing the chances of something bad happening but not eliminating them completely.

I figured that's what it was, but thought it was kind of a weird thing to say.  Yeah, nothing's 100% safe when it comes to disease transmission outside of an overpressure room or an inbuilt immunity*; I guess it's not a bad way to look at it though, since it may cushion the shock if you caught a bug and started crying, "B-but I did everything right!"

I thought maybe it was something weirder than what I expected it to be.  Which frankly is disappointing.
