What is it about hex based wargames you like?

That they feel like the old hex boardgames? That they have some depth in strategy? That they seem more "real"? That you can take your sweet time playing them? Something else?

Stop answering for free, Ed.

Even EA is nice enough to offer something in exchange of market research.

EA has millions of dollars to throw around. I, alas, do not :(

Anyhow, the odds of EA putting out a niche game are pretty low - they're trying to do a +1 on Zynga.

Also, most iPad games I fiddle with a bit and then leave.

Ones I've played the most

Levee En Masse
Ascension
Kingdom Rush
Pandemic 2.5

Lucidor

I've been spending some time on trains and on the sofa playing Neuroshima Hex with my girlfriend. Surprisingly chess-like in it's simplicity and countering every move the opponent makes.

Let us know your review once you've dug into it a bit.

I've been playing a bit of the Bard's Tale, but I find the flavour and writing pretty annoying so I haven't gotten that far.

The recent-ish console version or the really old school one?

Quickie impression:

It is a nice time waster. Like all rpg's,you'll get sick of the rats. Don't travel to areas above your level.

It actually ships with 2 of the original ones (and the 3rd one's due as well), but the main game was a 3D unreal engine type thing. I guess it makes sense that it's a port from the console version (I never played it); did the console version start in a pseudo Scottish village where everyone spoke with really fucking obnoxious Scottish-Irish-Australian accents?

15 bucks? Jesus.

I'll need to add more cash to my account. I'll need some time as I'm resting my leg right now.

Okay Tampax, it'll be a couple of days. I'll bomb the gooks tonight while Wolf Blitzer blovates about the election.
