Do you have to go to China to know real Chinese?

Actually, from what I hear, yes.  Chinese restaurants outside of China are supposedly nothing like real Chinese restaurants.  I guess maybe Chinese restaurants in Chinatowns or other ethnic enclaves might be authentic, though.
