So the 7 Ukrainians escorting the money and the gold have been handed over to Ukrainian officials. They have not been charged with any crimes. But Hungary is keeping the money.

I mean maybe don't try to move money through an enemy state run by organized crime? Not sure what they expected.

According to the Ukrainians, they travelled on a route pre-approved by the Hungarian police. They have been using this land route for cash transfers ever since the usual aerial route had to be stopped in 2022.

Yeah this has been picked up on by Hungarian analysts but I have no idea how prevalent a thought it is among the populace. Namely that if one main message is that being drawn into the war is an imminent danger, then perhaps it may prove counterproductive to emphasise how Orban is in a personal beef with Zelensky.
