Makes sense, doesn't it?

My last trip to Hungary was a bit of an eye-opener. The whole damned airport was full of "Hungary is a FAMILY country" posters. I said to my ex "This feels like visiting Italy in 1934"- She replied "We should go there in summer".

Not sure if true - and too good to check - but I saw someone say polls show a decline in support for Orban after Vance's speech
Let's bomb Russia!

Vance is a really repulsive guy so that could be possible.

The British right, in its various forms, polls at about 45-50% but liking for Trump and his cronies is at a far far lower level. My understanding is that is a common feature to many European countries. Good to hear that Hungary may be one of them.

Our Progress Party is tight-lipped about Trump.

I guess it's bad optics to be on the kind and sensitive person-chair with trump if you're a party claiming to be nationalist

Vance visiting Orban?
Una gionarta particolare in Hungary?  :hmm:

No Sophia Loren this time. :(

That buddy movie would turn real dark real quick.
Being lazy is bad; unless you still get what you want, then it's called "patience".
Hubris must be punished. Severely.

Vance would marry Orban...probably wants to. He loves him.

But you might be talking about the other two guys.

A very spot-on comment I have heard is that while Orban continues to use anti-globalist rhetoric, he is the only globalist on the Hungarian political scene.

Since the 2022 election win, he has lost all appetite for domestic affairs - in part because the country is increasingly in shambles and he and his team lack the talent and will to do anything about it- and increasingly his public speeches and his propaganda machine are absorbed by international concerns. Such as building his "patriotic" coalition to "conquer Brussels", fighting hard to prevent any aid reaching Ukraine, preventing as many  sanctions on Russia as he can, licking Trump's boots, etc.

Like, I can't remember the last time he or his propaganda talked about anything domestic. It's a bit crazy.

I guess the "war on woke" is basically already won domestically in Hungary, so being anti-rainbow flag and against uppity women and immigrants isn't getting any real traction for him?

What sicko would immigrate to Hungary? It is a dying country run by crooks. I guess the only reason would be to get that EU passport.

Relatively cheap labour would be an incentive for some, I suppose, and a very strong agricultural sector.
