I like ID4 as a dumb, but very fun movie.

I remember it as one of the few films that I went to see on its opening day...the crowd was huge, and it was also one of the few scenes I've seen in theaters where the theatre goers actively cheered during the movie.

That may just make many here think of said moviegoers as dumb sheep, but I think it speaks well for the appeal of the movie at that time.
