Uhg.  I always thought it was terribly over-rated.  In fact, I found it almost unwatchable.  OK, the bit with John Hurt was good.

Actually, I pretty much view Mel Brooks' whole career as a long decline from The Producers, which really accelerated when he started starring in his own films on a regular basis, instead of just writing and directing.

I wouldn't call Young Frankenstein or Blazing Saddles a decline from The Producers, brilliant as it may be.
I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.

So... Winter Dragon happened.  Anyone else watch it?  Nothing says quality like a Sunday/Monday 1:30 am showing on FXX.  I've never read the Wheel of Time books, but I have a feeling I'd be pissed/embarrassed/ashamed/sad if I had.  It made little to no sense to me.
"Everything that brought you here -- all the things that made you a prisoner of past sins -- they are gone. Forever and for good. So let the past go... and live."

"Somebody, after all, had to make a start. What we wrote and said is also believed by many others. They just don't dare express themselves as we did."

The Larch

Apparently Mel Brooks said that he still wants to do a sequel for Spaceballs, and that he might start after the new movies come out. Then again I believe he said the same thing when the first prequels came out, so...

He better stick to his promise to subtitle it "The Search for More Money".  :P

Lately, a Wachowskifest.  If you type "Wachowski" enough times, it doesn't even look real anymore.

Speed Racer (2008).  Basically, Speed Racer is everything David Cronenberg didn't get to in Crash.  A+

Cloud Atlas (2012).  History is making us better, and it's only a pity we have to live through it: Cloud Atlas gives us a vision of something worth looking forward to.  A

Jupiter Ascending (2015).  Good or bad, I knew it would be weird.  What I couldn't have known was that the Wachowskis' weird could be so boring.  C

If that's your takeaway, don't read the book. :P

For serious?  Because it'd actually piqued my interest...

I'm sure that Malthus would never like anything bleak.  He's too jolly.

I haven't read the book, but I find Ide's take-away from Cloud Atlas to miss the point. :P

After Walking Dead, caught the pilot of Better Call Saul (the Breaking Bad spinoff).  Interesting, but too early to make a call on it yet.
