The Far Country is Stewart's best western.

He made a bunch of good westerns;  it's hard to say which is best.

Like you said, the whole movie is about that, so I didn't necessarily need ten minutes spent being educated about the candidates for a fake election that already has a foregone conclusion.

The election is important because of Wayne's character reveal, and metaphorical ride into the sunset. It closes his character arc. The remaining of the epilogue sort of hammers home the "civilization is here" theme, but it isn't *that* long.

I have a huge soft spot for Destry Rides Again, that film is almost perfect, immensely enjoyable.

Winchester 73 was one of my favorite westerns as a kid, too. His Westerns with Anthony Mann are all really great.

Ed Anger

They are remaking Ben-Hur.

I think it's languish break time for me. Pfffffffft.

Braveheart is on.  Watching Ed Angershanks toss the fag out the window is still hilarious, even after repeated viewings.

Always thought of that character as Marty.

Nah, Marty appears later on, in Edward II.
