Everyone still loves Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore, right? They haven't been torn down in light of his more recent, er, efforts?

Don't Mess With The Zohan - I'm ashamed to admit this one made me laugh a lot.

Quite a number of good lines and scenes in there.

Also, IMO, it's interesting as a socio-political commentary on the perspective of American Jews on the Israel-Palestine conflict. :nerd:

So is the French-American cop show with Jean Reno worth view?

I was listening to P.T. Anderson's interview on Maron's podcast;  he said he had cast Sandler for Punch Drunk Love specifically because of his performances in Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison--which happen to be some of Anderson's favorite films.  He said that Sandler's ability to go from 0 to 60 on the freak-out scale is what he needed for PDL.

Sandler saw Magnolia, and said, "You want me to do that? I can't do that."

Aye, the onslaught of surreal and silly stuff is so unrelenting that every now and then it hits some gold. Loved Schneider's wannabe jihadists, for example.

The subject matter is also usually so grim that seeing it tackled as a silly comedy feels quite fresh in itself.

Been on the American service for a while. :)  Only reason I ain't bought it on BD.

I did get Deathtrap, Kelly's Heroes, Where Eagles Dare, and Grease today though.  I broke down just a little.  Also ordered Gone Girl, out next Tuesday. -_-

I don't do meditation.  I drink alcohol to relax, like normal people.

I like musicals. Speaking of which, theatrical screening of Wizard of Oz on Sunday. :o
