Why not remake Red Dawn with a "generic made up country" as the invader? Or zombies? Or aliens?

Good afternoon. I am the Grand Exalted High Macha of Raspur, a nonexistent but real-sounding country

You come in peace?

I come for your egg-salad recipe.

1/2 cup mayonnaise

1 teaspoon prepared yellow mustard

1/4 cup chopped green onion

salt and pepper to taste

1/4 teaspoon paprika

Directions
1.Place egg in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring water to a boil and immediately remove from heat. Cover and let eggs stand in hot water for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from hot water, cool, peel and chop.
2.Place the chopped eggs in a bowl, and stir in the mayonnaise, mustard and green onion. Season with salt, pepper and paprika. Stir and serve on your favorite bread or crackers.

The world is mine!
In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace—and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock

Wags is on the right track, though: you'd need a Second American Civil War.

Or maybe a European civil war.  But who'd watch that?

A ukip funded film about the  evil Franco-German empire (they're snobby AND efficient) with their eastern European grunts trying to subdue England, who has left the EU and is doing better than ever, by force?

Red dawn remake- meh. They at least lampshade fairly early the stupidity of a north Korean invasion. And it has its cool points. But even beyond the base idea the whole thing is just stupid. Stupid in  a way over and beyond the original. It would be nice to see a film about urban resistance in a western country done well....

The first problem is choosing a reasonable enemy invader that passes the laugh test.  :hmm:

"The invaders from Canada are burning down the White House ... again!"
Maybe a vast Liberal-socialistic conspiracy raises secret armies recruited from Americorps to take over the country?

I should note that this scenario was proposed rather seriously by some Republican friends of mine. They were considering moving to South Carolina to join the resistance and arm themselves.

More realistically would be a Liberal rebellion to overthrow a right wing fascist state.  the scenes of your Republican friends fighting to support the government forces would be priceless.

Remake Red Dawn with Iraq.. sorry, IN Iraq. Where a bunch of plucky high schoolers from the madrassah gang up together to resist the US invasion. Throw in some stupidity and random cruelty from americans, but focus on the mindboggling insanity of fighting against somebody who wants to give you democracy, schools, hospitals and clean water AND has flying death robots.

Live showing?

They do it in some big theater and it's simulcast to several hundred across the country.

I dunno.  You'd be out by like ten, ten thirty.  Not that late, I guess, but then again I go see midnight showings before work the next day.

I used to be up at 4 or 5 in the morning for work. Early bird finds new paradigms.
