bit of a snoozefest. pretty, n all, but I had a hard time not nodding off. too much courtroom, bot enough drama.

I really liked Lost in Translation. Only seen it once though, maybe I'd feel differently after a second viewing.

I find watching it hard though because Scarlett makes me weep for what I cannot have.

Word. Any film that begins with a long take on Miss Johansson's bum in panties deserves praise.

I know, but:

a) It doesn't have Scarlett Johansson on it.
b) It's not shown in a big screen.



And it's not like the movie doesn't have other appeals. The scene with Bill Murray shooting the Japanese whisky add is hilarious.

Yeah, that and the ending are the two scenes I liked.

I want to say it might have worked better as a short film?  There's no real place for forty minute pieces, if there ever were.  Well, outside of television, of course.  I feel like we're missing out, culturally, a bit that films--that is, cinematic works with the production values and high-caliber acting of feature films--have to be an hour and a half long, or longer.  I suspect there's a lot of stuff that can't really support the feature length that would nonetheless find an audience at a far shorter length.

The two movies aren't too much alike, Coppola's being far, far better, but take the Brown Bunny, which is utter piece of shit at its feature length, but would be pretty decent movie at 25 or 30 minutes.  Also, you could get your big screen porno swerve on, Taxi Driver.
