Four Lions.

Wannabee not so wahhabi "British" jihadists vs the imperialist, pro-zionist west. Mockumentary complete with cinéma-vérité style shooting of islamist web videos, thick Sheffield/Pakistani accents, cartoon-like costumes and characters at times but not always.

Four Lions out of Five

SPOILER:

Osama dies in the movie !

Drive Angry ... um actually was kind of a hoot. Nic Cage's magic 8 ball script choosing system finally hit on something in his wheel house. Modern Grindhouse, less Machete, more Death Sentence though for certain.  I really enjoyed the cheeky straight ahead no winking at the audience tone of this flick. they slow it down in bits but come back slamming with a Sidek(CH)ick who's nobody's fucktoy, and kicks a lotta douchebag dude ass her ownself. refreshing. any action flick that can forgo the love interest but also have a gunfight fought while never stopping fucking the barmaid from the previous scene in the movie needs to be seen. funny shit. worth a rent

I only cared for Duvall and the Air Cav part of that movie. The rest put me sleep.
I don't know.  There were lots of parts that were very striking, lots of strings here and there.  Looking at Redux, I'm of the opinion that cutting the part with the French was a good thing.

You didn't like the bridge at night, or the Playboy riot?  Or the end with Kurtz?
I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.

Pacing aside, the thing I like about Reducks is it follows Heart of Darkness much more accurately.

I actually didn't like the original, but I liked Redux.  Putting back all the scenes that got cut from the original made the whole a lot more coherent.

My favorite part was always Kurtz, though, probably because while the air cav scene is still very effective, I saw it as an homage or a parody dozens of times before I ever saw it in Apocalypse Now.
Kinemalogue
Current reviews: The 'Burbs (9/10); Gremlins 2: The New Batch (9/10); John Wick: Chapter 2 (9/10); A Cure For Wellness (4/10)

I was able to record some good 30 for 30 movies last night.  I finally got The U, the Steinbrenner one and the one on Drazen Petrovic and Vlade Divac and the Yuogslav civil war which I had seen before and was really good.

I had to skip the Fernando Valenzuela one to record Apocalypse Now.

Admiral Yi

Why do they call it 30 for 30?

They made 30 movies in ESPN's 30th year, IIRC.

Yeah, you can see where there were some major editing holes made for pacing after seeing the full thing.

And my favorite part is still the Do Long bridge.  GET THE ROACH NIGGA

I've been plowing through The Wire from start to finish over the last couple of weeks.  Initially, I doubted I'd like it all that much as I hate "cop shows."  Fortunately, this isn't really a cop show.  Should finish the fourth season tomorrow.

Good sheeeeeeeit.
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

Zoupa

My favourite hopper gets capped in season 4  :(

That was a great episode; Fernando rocked.  Fucker looks like he just walked off the mound, hasn't changed a bit.

I hoped his boy would have made it to the Majors, but he never did.

Yeah.  I mean the journey up the river gets crazier and crazier the farther they go, but Do Long was still a big change in tone.
