I've been watching moonknight. Don't know if I like it or not, but the acting has been very good

Hubris must be punished. Severely.

Hmmm, I was going to give it a pass but now you and Garbon have said they enjoyed it (apologies to other posters I might have missed).  I will give it a look.  :)

Minority Report with Egyptian gods. Pretty cool.
To sleep, perchance to dream. But in that sleep of death, what dreams may come?

Gartenbaukino is bringing Lawrence of Arabia and 2001: A Space Odyssey in 70mm again in a few weeks.

I loved the Indiana Jonesy bits. It's a fun show.

So The Kids in the Hall revival on Amazon released a trailer.

It's fun to see some classic characters return, but colour me sceptical on this one.

Has there been a good example of a show from the '80s/'90s being dredged up for the current age and it going off well?
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

BSG? A bit of a special case (since it's from the 2000s). I'm also in the "Twin Peaks: The Return is amazing" club, which I agree might have low membership.  :hmm:

I'd say that counts, sure.

BSG is from the '70s, so fails the rule.

Twin Peaks...eh.

But yeah, I agree with your general point.  They mostly suck, just coasting by on nostalgia.  Given the fragmented media world though nostalgia seems to be strong enough to carry a bunch of these shows.  I just googled to try and remember some - man so many came and went so fast I don't even remember them.  And so many more are apparently coming...

If you want to go back a bit, in the 90s there was a string of classic sitcoms being relaunched into feature movies.  Mostly they sucked, but Brady Bunch, 21 Jump Street, and Addams Family were funny enough each had a sequel.  But that was a different era, and entirely different than, say "hey let's launch new seasons of Murphy Brown / Sex and the City / Roseanne 20-30 years later!".
