I watched Room. Never seen it before. Its good.
I got vibes watching it that maybe grandad was Jack's dad. Huge hints that way.
Seems its just me and its confirmed that everything is as it seems and he is just weird.

Power of the Dog. Fine film in the way it twists your emotions. Reminded me of There Will Be Blood, but I think that is because of the setting and the fact that Jonny Greenwood scored both films.

Midnight in Paris. Okish.

I kinda got the impression the protagonist(and by extension, director Woody Allen) were more enamored by the pedigree of the names than by the city itself.

Oh, this makes sense. Indeed, it's a recurring theme in these shows, now that you say it.

Guys and Dolls (1955)

This movie was Marlon Brando's only musical.  You may have looked at the title and thought that "Last Tango in Paris" was a musical; but I must tell you that it is not, the title will lead you to a false conclusion.  I also must tell you that The Godfather cannot sing, nor can he dance; for all his songs he had to record them over and over and they just stitched them all together like a crazy quilt that's raffled off at a church picnic.  This was a problem when they made it because Frank Sinatra wanted to be the star; but the director cast Ol' Blue Eyes as the co-star.  In this particular situation Ol' Blue Eyes was in the wrong because a low-rent hoodlum in a Damian Runyon story was the part he was born to play.

There may be some idea as how this movie would compare to other Damian Runyon movies.  As a story it is a furlong and a half behind "Lady for a Day" or "Little Miss Marker," but you did not take your Jane to a Frank Sinatra movie for the story.  The singing is nice and sweet, except for Colonel Kurtz, I mean, and the dancing really swings.  They even do this crap-shooting ballet, let me to tell you that that is a hoot.  The one part of Runyon that the movie does a good job with is the talking; as Runyon's characters try to classy up their talk, see?  They got the underworld slang going on, but they they talk flowery with no contractions.  But they do not have schooling, see, so the use simple words like tough guys trying to sound smart.  As I said it was a perfect part for Frank Sinatra

Switched from my local Netflix to Netflix US, was hoping they'd have Idiocracy. Instead, they had "Behind the Curve", a documentary about flat-earthers.

I'm watching it.

Ghost Rider - Spirit of Vengeance (2011)

The scene where the Ghost Rider pisses fire is pure cinema genius; unfortunately the rest of the doesn't come close to living up to that.  It's mostly forgettable (although it may be the best sequel that has Christopher Lambert in it.)  The original Ghost Rider wasn't all that good, but at least it had Peter Fonda and Sam Elliot.  Spirit of Vengeance is mostly just dull throughout.

It's a forthcoming HBO period comedy based on the life of "gentleman pirate" Stede Bonett. It is executive produced by Taika Waititi, who also directs the 1st episode and plays Blackbeard in the series.

There's also an interesting discussion there about the difference between being skeptical and being in denial: a skeptic is ready to test his hypothesis and challenge his assumptions. A person in denial has already concluded he knows the truth.
