Oh very sad to see Betty White has died just a couple of weeks short of her hundredth birthday :(

Probably one of the last actors of that generation who was working in peak studio Hollywood - and probably the funniest. RIP :(

She was much loved for her roles and the kind of person she was. RIP.

Watching Impeachment, the current season of American Crime Story dealing with the Clinton sex scandals. Loved Versace, but this one feels more like a by the numbers reenactment. The arc of the show seems to be to highlight how Jones and Lewinsky were taken advantage of by all the people around them and the political interests of the time, but for some reason it isn't quite geling for me. The show both portrays Jones and Lewisnky as ingenués, which makes them feel a bit cartoony, artifacts to lay out the show's theme. I don't know maybe that's the case, it's not like I know much about the scandal, it was just a bit in the international news when I was a kid. I'm just three episodes in, so maybe the show finds its footing later on.

Doesn't help the show that there's a lot of stunt casting going around, like Clive Owen's uncanny valley Bil Clinton. That said, Sarah Paulson as Linda Tripp is deliciously scummy. I find objectionable how Cobie Smulders makes Ann Coulter look hot, though   :P

Colonia. Hermione gets caught up in JaronPinochet's coup and joins a German sect (with a c). Pretty good.

New years doctor who was surprisingly good.
Hopefully they take it as a lesson of how smaller stakes are better.
And Aisling Bea

Watched "Red Joan," about an English woman who passed nuclear secrets to the USSR.

It's OK.  The actress who plays Joan is cute enough.  I've never seen her before.

Haven't watched the movie but the real life Colonia Dignidad was a hellhole. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colonia_Dignidad
I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.

Sydney Poitier died today.

Although I know who he is, I can't remember seeing any movie in which he starred.

Does In the Heat of the Night have a smash pop hit?

Eddie Teach
