"We have it in our power to begin the world over again"

It depends on where you watch it.
To sleep, perchance to dream. But in that sleep of death, what dreams may come?

If a movie is good, then I don't care how long it is - if I am enjoying myself watching it, then more enjoyment is a positive, rather then a negative.

Bladder of steel?

Something can be the best thing ever. Odds are good after the 2 hour mark I'll need to pee at some point.

Speaking of long movies; I went to the theater for the first time since COVID. Nightmare Alley. Good thing was cinema was empty cause everyone was watching Spider Man. So that was good.

Movie was good too. Took a while to get going, a slow burner. Drifter gets caught into the carny world and becomes a grifter.

The Brain

Bad Times at the El Royale. Strangers get in trouble in an almost empty hotel. The movie isn't horrible, but it doesn't succeed. It's about 45 minutes too long, and the movie doesn't find a good tone.
Women want me. Men want to be with me.

Seen on the plane:
Foundation: not bad, worth continuing at home
Ted Lasso: okay, may continue watching at home
Black Widow: first Marvel film I've seen. Meh.
Fast & Furious 9: thought I'd give it a go with only 30 mins flying time left. Quit after 5 minutes.

Black Widow wasn't great.  Maybe if it had come out for its original airing date it'd have fit better, but it wasn't one of the better movies.
PDH!

'Don't Look Up' - a great satire, excellent turns from Streep, Blanchette and Rylance who do battle to see who can steal the movie from De Caprio.   :)

Yeah, everyone in the CC household enjoyed it too.

Although the satire was a bit too accurate and depressing to make it a great comedy.

Yes, I think the criticism of the satire being too heavy handed at times is wrong because it's meant to be, along the lines of the 'Whoops Apocalypse' TV series / film*.

* though the film was a miss as compared to the original tv series.

I remember when Newsroom was on HBO. Pre-Trump.

It was criticized as being too heavy handed in its criticism of the modern Tea Party GOP. Too ridiculous how crazy they painted the right. Not believable. It's not THAT bad for chrissakes!

Ahhh, good times. Turns out it was actually quite a bit worse.
"If you think this has a happy ending, then you haven't been paying attention."

Oh very sad to see Betty White has died just a couple of weeks short of her hundredth birthday :(

Probably one of the last actors of that generation who was working in peak studio Hollywood - and probably the funniest. RIP :(
