Watched Double Indemnity last night, for probably the fifth time.  But you notice different things every time, it's so good.  And Edward G. Robinson was never better.  "My little man tells me..."

pegged for Bond. Get your mind right. This is James Bond were talking about.

Well, it would take the franchise in a new direction ...  :hmm:

I've always assumed that Bond was a desperately closeted homo from the start.

I mean, he is British, after all.

I think Hiddleston should stick to roles that let him give birth to monsters.
To sleep, perchance to dream. But in that sleep of death, what dreams may come?

celedhring

Hiddleston indeed seems to be the frontrunner for taking the role.

IMO he has the British chops for it.

He looks too slight for the fight scenes.  That was Brosnan's glaring weakness.

Isn't there a sizeable movement that wants Idris Elba?

But he's Blek. James Bond is not Blek.

Nice reference Before.  :)

How about Tom Hardy. He sounds British enough to Americans.  :P

I'd be a fan of Idris Elba or Karl Urban being the next bond if they're going to stick to getting late 30's-early 40's actors to take over the role.

  Either would be awesome.
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

I think that ship has sailed. He's 43 and given how action-y those films are nowadays, he wouldn't have many films in him. Craig was 37 when he took on the role. Assuming Craig quits now, both him an Brosnan would have left in their late 40s.

Also, Elba's already cast as the gunslinger in the Dark Tower films. If those end up going forward he will be busy for a while. And heck, I prefer seeing him in those.
