Went to my sister's for dinner;  all my nieces' friends and parents were there, so we had an artificial countdown to New Year's at 8pm, so they could stay up "late" and toast ginger ale with cranberry   "champagne" cocktails, complete with hats and noisemakers.  It was cute.
A few hours with a shitload of 5-6 year olds, and I was exhausted.

Went to the hotel my brother, sister, and mom are staying at with the kids. Spent most of the night watching the kids play in the pool, playing some silly game that's more or less a high-tech Hot Potato, and Phase 10. Ate pizza and wings, hung out until midnight, then piled the kids back into the van to head home. A fairly uneventful - yet fun - New Years.
Yesterday, upon the stair,
I met a man who wasn't there
He wasn't there again today
I wish, I wish he'd go away...
