Losing weight without dieting is a bad omen, J.

One more week of high school basketball, then I think I am going to be in physical therapy for my back.

Once that is better, I think I am going to start running. I would like to run in the annual Rochester Corporate Challenge this year. Never done anything like that before though, so we will have to see. Plenty of people just walk it, so it's not like any big deal or anything.

It could mean he's increased his activity level.

Have found good AIDS?  :P

I've lost three pounds this week from running. I'm not paying too much attention to my diet, though I'm working pretty hard on staying to natural foods rather than processed, and decreasing my portion sizes.

How's everyone else doing?

I was going to the gym 4 times a week.... until Final exams came :(.

My goal is 180lbs... I'm just putting that out there... now I can be held responsible haha.

My latest theory on why my knees are so prone to injury -

QuoteSome people have hypermobility with no other symptoms or medical conditions. However, people with hypermobility syndrome may experience many difficulties. For example, their joints may be easily injured, be more prone to complete dislocation due to the weakly stabilized joint and they may develop problems from muscle fatigue (as muscles must work harder to compensate for the excessive weakness in the ligaments that support the joints).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypermobility

Yes, I can bend all my fingers and thumbs backward, and I can lock all my fingers.

QuoteFinger locking is the act of locking the middle joint of a finger in place, and then bending the very last joint independently from the others. It is a rare ability, and the majority of the population cannot do so.

I am extremely proud of these special abilities, and I have yet to encounter anyone in real life who can perform these feats.  I have no idea until now that there are possible downsides :weep:

Two of my four kids are hypermobile, Mono. They can do the finger locking thing, and one of them has dislocated her elbow by simply being pulled on. We were told when they were really small to make sure that they exercise regularly to build up the muscles around the joints for support and do not become overweight, as that stress on their already-stressed joints will result in a great deal of pain and damage.

Time to hit the gym, Mono? You can get support braces for your knees and ankles that will help stabilize them while you're working out.

Down 12 for Feb.  Hope to lose 10 more by Easter, or at least 8.  Have to find the balance of cutting back enough to lose weight but not so much that I just fuck up my metabolism and gain it all back again.

Going to the gymn 3-6 hours a week too.  I'm all like limber now.
PDH!

I am already hitting the gym at least twice a week.  It is during these trips that I discover how weak my knees seem to be.  I guess it is a little late to know that I shouldn't become overweight

I can overcome some of the knee problems with exercise.  When I first did the running machines, I set the speed at 5.0.  When I cranked it up to 5.4, I just couldn't go on because my knees would become so painful.  With a little persistance, I am now doing 5.8 with ease.  I still can't survive any cyclying machines for more than 2 minutes, though.  I feel as though there is a sharp needle in each of my knees when I do those.

Never heard of knee bracers.  May try them if I run out of options

My father can lock his fingers, but cannot bend them backward.  I can do both.  If I have children, I hope the evolutionary trend continues and they can bend their knees backward   :cthulu:
