WASHINGTON - A section of the roof and a wall at part of the Smithsonian Institution's Museum Support Center in Maryland has collapsed, though no artifacts are thought to be damaged.

The collapse was discovered early Wednesday at the Garber Facility in Suitland, which houses artifacts from the National Air and Space Museum.

Smithsonian spokeswoman Linda St. Thomas said the collections are safe in a sealed container inside the building.

Emergency officials have told museum staff it's too dangerous to go in and check on the artifacts because the building is unstable.

St. Thomas said the facility includes buildings from the 1950s that were slated for demolition in the coming years. She said items stored at the building are not of high value, though it wasn't clear what collections were inside.

The northeast: not fit for human habitation. 

We (CT) haven't gotten even a quarter of the snow that CdM has gotten.  Total snow over the past week is maybe 8 inches at most.  The storms have been going south of the northeast.

I only got snow overnight last night, 2-4 inches. We lucked out on the snow. It rained most of yesterday instead of snow.
