I ordered Win 7 professional, and I can't install this on my machine with Vista Home Premium.  and of course, there's no way I can legally download Windows 7 if I'm not American.
Silly shit.  I'll have to order another DVD for this machine.  Let's see how it goes in the office...

:pinch:  Always check the upgrade path before buying an upgrade version.

I dunno - Viper knows computers pretty well, and he missed it...

Plus do you know what the Snow Leopard upgrade path was?  Anything -> Snow Leopard.  For $29.
Yeah, but then you're stuck with Snow Leopard on your computer.
I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.

Yeah, but then you're stuck with Snow Leopard on your computer.

And with a Mac.

I have Vista and I do not really care for it.  I install computer games on my PC and I have no idea where the files for them go.  It seems they appear just randomly across the Hard Drive.  I'll wait a while on Windows 7 till there's some reviews and the first bugs get shaken out but will likely switch over.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Have you been under a rock for the past year?  There have been plenty of reviews already, and with the public beta being what it's been, I don't think there are many major bugs out there yet to be discovered.

But IIRC, I don't think Win7 handles game files much differently from Vista.

If you have XP Home, I think you can get an upgrade version of 7 Home.  If you have XP Professional, you can use an upgrade of 7 Professional.

Or you can use a full version of whatever you like.

Well see when i checked it out at Costco last night it the upgrade 7 home says on box can upgrade from Vista, if trying to upgrade from XP i need a clean install...which i don't feel like doing. :P

It is confusing as hell, but as far as I can figure...

You can use the "upgrade" version of Win 7, but you aren't able to do an upgrade, and instead need to do a clean install.

After further investigation, that seems to be case, which means i'll pass for now.

Just a reminder, the Snow Leopard upgrade path:

Any Intel Mac -> Snow Leopard.   :)

You installing from discs or from digital downloads?  Vista uses a "digital locker" for digital downloads with DRMs- Sims 3 uses proprietary DRMs, but I believe my game files for Deus Ex are in the digital locker.
