The reason I like playing old seasons (I'm about to start a 1976 game with the Pirates in OOTP) is that it gives me incentive to look up players from not today and learn about them. :)

Before the advent of widespread cable/internet coverage of American sports over here was spotty, and I didn't get the Stars & Stripes from my brother in law every day. The few known players were Joe Montana, Bubba Smith (Police Academy) and LT (he appeared on the WWF a few times).
We are born dying, but we are compelled to fancy our chances.
