I saw this on the news yesterday. What a horror show. This nut case kept this girl locked away, fathered two kids by her, who will also be very messed up as they have to start dealing with what their father is. Just a nasty horror, so sad.

Garrido sounds Hispanic or Italian... not Austrian. And this took place in California.

He was referring to Arnie, who runs California and is an Austrian. ;)

Austrian-American :contract:

just like Charlize Theron is African-American

Edit: or is that Afrikaans-American or Afrikaner-American I'm confused...

First Corollary - "You cannot have too many soldiers, only too few supplies."
Second Maxim - "Be willing to exchange a bad idea for a good one."
Second Corollary - "You can only be wrong or agree with me."

A terrorist which starts a slaughter quoting Locke, Burke and Mill has completely missed the point.

I don't believe in the death penalty, but if I did this is one non-murder case that I think in theory warrants the death penalty.  What this guy did is equal to first degree murder in magnitude IMO.

Very much agreed. I'm neutral on the death penalty. I don't like it but I can certainly understand when/where some would want it used. This is one of those cases.

Is there such a thing? I mean, he's ethnically German.  ;)
That never stops the Scottish-Americans :p

Quotefathered two children with her, the first when Jaycee was about 14. Those children, both girls now 11 and 15, also were kept hidden away in the backyard compound.

I didn't realize how old the daughters were.
Do we know if he raped them as well?  :(

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

It is part of my ever more low view of human morality that I must answer, "we don't know yet."

One story I read was that would be determined as the police/FBI performed investigations into this whole nasty incident.

QuoteIn an interview with KCRA3, Garrido on Thursday night urged people to wait for more details about the case to come out before making a judgment.

"What's kept me busy the last several years is I've completely turned my life around," he said.

"And you're going to find the most powerful story coming from the witness, the victim - you wait. If you take this a step at a time, you're going to fall over backwards and in the end, you're going to find the most powerful heartwarming story."

And if anyone is interested, here's his blogg: http://www.voicesrevealed.blogspot.com/

That is literally heart-warming. In the sense of how 100 amps will warm up the heart to a nice crispy well done.
