In terms of backwards names, I had a friend named Hollis Bruce in high school - the school was convinced he was dyslexic and kept trying to "correct" his name to Bruce Hollis.
 Poor kid.
...the 3rd. They did it to his dad, too. :face:

Hollis is a cool name though.

Also I don't know who any of those people are.

:face:

:P

But as a general rule of thumb, a TON of English surnames come from occupations. Hunter, Farmer, Smith, Painter, Taylor, as well as some whose meanings have been lost or just become very obscure- Kellogg(butcher), Cooper(barrelmaker), Wright (makes shit), etc.

Oh, well duh. That makes sense. I can't remember ever meeting anyone in the states with the last name Hunter though.

Have you met more than one person with the first name Hunter?
To sleep, perchance to dream. But in that sleep of death, what dreams may come?

Hollis is a cool name though.

Agreed, but then I'm biased. "Jim" is the lamest name one could have. It's kind of like having "Brand X" on your birth certificate.

I agree, it's a pretty name. But I wouldn't want to be constantly running into people with the same name as me.

Exactly. Try being Mary Williams, for hod's sake.  <_<

Ahh a traditional Mexican name

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

Jim isn't so bad. I think I've only met one or two people named Jim in my entire life. Does anyone ever call you Jimmy?
