Platonic ideal?  Monkeybutt or Berkut.  Both smart and funny guys, but their status as the exemplar depends entirely on whether you think Languish is or ideally ought to be kind of a belligerent mellow or a bit higher strung and fuller of generalized hate.

Edit: Actually, split the difference, and call it "Vinraith."

Vinny is too think-skinned - otherwise, he would be a great nominee. Lacking an ability to get in an argument without going nuclear and stomping from the room isn't going to work on Languish.

I am much too disliked by the lefty fringe/crazies though. Need someone who is moderate, opinionated, but not objectionable, but still willing to get in and mix it up occasionally.

Of course - you are not the most average poster at all, IMO.

I am TOO argumentative and piss people off too much (me and Habs had an interesting discussion about this when he came up for a con recently, actually), but someone who does not argue at all cannot possibly be the ideal - Languish is too much about arguing for that to work.

JR might work as well. He has that great mix of argumentativeness with likability. Why do I keep thinking of lawyers though?

Although PJL, if we are on lawyers, is probably the RL ideal of what most Languishites would like to be...

Sadly, this entry is rather vague, but that is not my understanding. I believe it's idealism as opposed to materialism rather than ideal as opposed to inapt or unbefitting. Basically, the Platonic ideal poster would be the typical poster abstracted.

I think everyone here is quite used to being challenged in arguments, most of us to the point we decided it wasn't worth arguing anymore.
