Only German Kohlrouladen shall suffice!

This is how you can tell Germany is a rich country (cabbage filled with meat), and Ukraine is a poor country (cabbage filled with rice).

What does that make the UK with pigs in blankets?

I can't see the picture but I'm kind of scared about how the brits interpretation might turn that into an abomination

Sausages wrapped in bacon.

It is in it's own way monstrous - but a delight

Oh, like Berner Würstl, then (bratwurst with cheese bits inside, wrapped in bacon).

My mom makes this awesome oyster stuffing. She doesn't care for it but my brother and I love it, so that's my choice. That and pumpkin pie.

My mom just told be that the supermarket didn't have any oysters.
This is the greatest Thanksgiving tragedy ever.

I believe it is a (US) Southern abomination of grease made into a roux and mixed with some cream.  Basically a bachemelle with pork fat as the base instead of (just) butter.
Bacon grease, specifically.  Crumble pork sausage into it and you got yourself the topping for biscuits and gravy.

A little bit behind - just putting my brandied apple pie in the oven now.

We had BBQ pork ribs cooked in a crockpot along with potatoes.

Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.

As for the poll, pumpkin soup for me. Never tasted it until my first Thanksgiving dinner, and after coming back from the US is now part of my regular diet. It may sound silly but I fucking love the thing.

The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

Happy Turkey Day, USians. :)

The version my mom was taught by our neighbour was a mixture of rice and meat, I'd say 70 meat? Maybe less.
Definitely plenty of meat there in my experience.  I remember the taste being meaty, the rice part was just a filling and not really factoring in the taste profile.
