Just listened to a podcast with Katja Hoyer which was really interesting and she noted towards the end the issues and ambiguities of modern Germany looking at Bismarck especially. She also observed - which I found really striking - that there are two major biographes of Wilhelm II one is by an Australian and the other is by a Brit.

She also made the interesting comparison with the various events to mark the centenary of the Russian Revolution - although I wonder how many of them were in Russia v internationally :hmm:
