If it is indeed the shooter, and if he's an "online lolz" kid without any high level training, it's also possible it was a low probability shot that worked out in this case.

From what I've read (nameless online folks claiming to be Americans who shoot guns), the range of the shot combined with the rifle is a reasonable shot for hunting game; and also within the parameters of what US military practices on the shooting range.

That doesn't mean this kid necessarily could be confident to make this shot 100% of the time, but even if he'd make it 1 out of 10 times, or even 1 out of 20, this could be the one time he came up 1.

About as likely as the WSJ to post an apology or retraction that "transgender ideology" was inscribed on the shells. I've seen numerous calls for "war" and "crusade" already. Some even after the shooter was arrested. I have yet to see any retractions or backing down. They've been dedicated to fake news and conspiracy theories for years, why let the truth stop them this time?
