Austria is at >1500 cases, about 1/6 of the peak numbers in early April. In Vienna we're at 550, about 1/3 of the peak numbers. There has been a recent cluster in the Serb-Orthodox community. Their churches have suspended services for the time being.
The numbers are going up again in many European countries...  :(

Heard on NPR that the GOP is talking about a trillion in stimulus 2.0 and the Democrats are talking about three trillion.

A trillion here and a trillion there....

Yeah, that is getting a bit worrying.
I mean I don't think there's much of a choice.

Interesting comparison of different measures being taken in different countries - as I say, it'll be interesting to see how these compare/work in the coming months:

Yeah there's been a little bit of a spike in France, Italy, Spain and Germany - hopefully they can all manage to identify, isolate and close this down.
Let's bomb Russia!

Early days yet but looks like it may have been a short blip in spain, even on the 7 day average. Fingers crossed.

So, the Catalan president just gave a press conference. In Catalan he was all "if people don't follow recomendations in 10 days it will be DOOM" and then he gave an adress - in English - for the foreign press which was "Catalonia is safe! Come visit!". I guess he thinks people don't speak other languages

Atleast it's to people from a different country.

Agreed. I think he's the only leader in the Western world with a vision for his country and for Europe.

snort.
his vision for France and the EU is the same as that of all the other french leaders since almost forever. France on top and the rest subsurvient, with their money flowing into the french treasury.

So when do we expect the decision?

14 members of the Miami Marlins just tested positive. MLB might be done already. :(
It is far better for the truth to tear my flesh to pieces, then for my soul to wander through darkness in eternal damnation.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

Well this is when we have to do shit like this. The collapse of the economy would be more damaging than that. So spend the money now to prevent a disaster or spend more later trying to dig yourself out.

Which is why you don't run up a huge deficit during non crisis periods...

You forgot to factor in nationalistic fantasies, those trump actual numbers.

At least in Germany there are few hotspots (one in Bavaria with fruit pickers again) and it seems to be a lot of untraceable community transmission which makes it hard to impossible to interrupt infection chains. Not a good situation.

So obviously this is a serious story - but I love how it looks like the cat is a whistleblower whose voice has been disguised for their own safety:

My brother was spending the weekend in a village in the Salzkamergutt area and had to go back to Vienna in a hurry after almost 50 cases were declared there
