So I wake up with what sure feels like a cold: runny nose and sore throat, but no fever or fatigue.  Kids have coughs too.

So I'm staying home today with the boys.  It's an office prep day for me anyways.

We did get a directive last night to take our laptop home with us each night in case more drastic measures are needed.  I'll go get it over the weekend.

Our boss also said that if we run out of toilet paper we can take some from the office.

Regarding home office, my company sent home everybody whose job can be done from home. However, now our remote access points are under extreme stress as they are not meant for everybody working remotely at the same time.

It can only be a question of time until they shut down our assembly plants.

Many regions - Madrid and Catalonia among them - have already ordered shutting down all shops/restaurants that are not supermarkets or pharmacies.

Are all the VIPs statistically more likely to test positive, or am I not properly putting all those VIP positive tests in statistical context?  It may actually be a good sign if all the powerful people are testing positive, as I'm sure they're tested with far greater likelihood, and that may indicate that a lot bigger chunk of the population is already infected than we think.

So yesterday when we had 590 confirmed cases the Chief Scientific Advisor said they thought there we were actually at about 5-10,000 cases (undiagnosed) and it would probably be the same in other countries, depending on their test regimes. So it is far wider, but that's still likely to be 10 to 20 times the confirmed cases and the US testing regime doesn't seem that robust so possibly higher in the US.

I suspect it's circulating widely, but the difference for VIPs is that they are more likely to get tested (especially if there's private testing going on) and they are probably more likely to contract it given they seem more likely to be traveling lots etc. But it is striking, I saw that 10 French MPs have it confirmed which is very high as a percent of Assemblee Nationale.

Germany is now enacting lockdowns and school closures. Due to our federal structure, each of the sixteen states is doing it slightly differently.

I suspect we'll see similar in the next week or two.

Yeah, we had a few tests last week where they asked everyone in the UK to try to log on remotely at the same time just to test capacity. I think it needed work.

At the risk of being a weirdo here - don't people normally have a stockpile of loo roll?

I always buy the massive multi-pack and think I probably always have a stash. It and rice are the two things I just buy in enormous bulk

Slovakia's doing the same apparently they've literally got border guards out on the road
