The moral bankruptcy of many on the Right was made obvious with the support for Trump and his lackeys, the sycophancy that made it seem as if he was somehow acceptable in comparison to Hillary.

Now, many on the Left are choosing to show that they, too, have nothing approaching true principles--all that matters is that their side occasionally gets a "victory".
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

Say what you will about Fidel, but Donald Trump would not be elected president in Castro's Cuba.

Former commies are always the hardest on the dictators when they die. My Romanian coworkers are having a good day with this news.

For the record, in case anyone was wondering, I would be proud if my President said the first quote. I would be disgusted and ashamed if my President said the second.

Rationality disgusts and shames Marti.

For the record, in case anyone was wondering, I would be disgusted and ashamed if I had been one of those who argued to let Marti come back from his ban.

no one cares.

Right? Because I know we all wait with bated breath about what Martinus thinks about any current events.

I for one rush to Languish as soon as a tsunami hits or a terrorist attack happens to find out what Martinus' take on it is.

That's like calling Holocaust survivors "former nazis" and saying that they are always the hardest on Adolph Hitler. You are a goof.

I am encouraged.

After the election of Trump, I think it was easy to forget that the right does NOT have any kind of monopoly on stupid.

The death of Castro has done a nice job reminding us of that.

I know a number of Africans who have a pretty high opinion of Castro. From their pov Castro was instrumental in helping various African countries gain independence in the face of colonialism.

Pfft, they're just Africans, they don't count.

What we need to do is appreciate everything US business interests and the US government did for the Cuban people without batting an eye for decades.  #MakeUnitedFruitCompanyStrongAgain

I did not realize Trudeau was such a piece of shit. Until his statement re: Castro.

Imho yeah, Fidel Castro brought many good things to Cuba. He also brought shitloads of bad things that weren't all that necessary in order to bring the good ones. You don't need to become a repressive dictator for nearly 60 years in order to improve education and healthcare, and kick out the mob and its cronies.

I wish my leftie comrades were able to call a spade a spade.
