Murdoch and Maxwell bought newspapers for making a mint, not for informing the public. As soon as they got the chance, they screwed the trade unions as well. And Maxwell was, on paper, a Labour supporter.

Let's not mention his daughter. Or Derby County. Or Peter Shilton.  :glare:

He was a Labour MP for a while as well as a possible triple agent - weirdly Alastair Campbell is still very loyal to him.

I think Maxwell's life is extraordinary. Always slightly surprised there's not been an attempt at a biopic or TV series. I think it's on the sort of scale that could even be of interest outside the UK.

In the 80s, anyone could be a Labour MP. There was even talk of Brian Clough as MP.

To be fair, parliament would have made his end at Nottingham Forest seem like a godsend.

Old media, like the one I am working in, is slowly dying. If not from a general atrophy of the mind of the public, it's from 1) our own choice of relevant pieces and 2) that those with opinion are mostly on Heilon Musk's X or write a substack.

Trump managed to get Colbert cancelled. I thought those manly no pronoun GOP people were against cancelling people. Then again, Colbert was not in their imagined Epstein files. Trump is, though.

I think it's because people at the top forgot why people subscribed to a particular newspaper. They keep trying to sell us subscriptions based upon 1 article.

Has anyone else heard about the purported connection between Epstein and Mossad?

Norgy

That's "journalist" Tucker Carlson, innit? The truthometer is at zero.

Now that sounds like old-school anti-semitism.

There was a 2007 film about the last days with David Suchet and a documentary a few years ago, House of Maxwell.

AFAIK the only "source" is Alex Acosta, who would have no actual knowledge, and a huge motive to deflect attention away from the fact that he handed Epstein the plea deal of the century.
We have, accordingly, always had plenty of excellent lawyers, though we often had to do without even tolerable administrators, and seen destined to endure the inconvenience of hereafter doing without any constructive statesmen at all.

About as fair and balanced as most of Tucker's sources, I'd say.

WHY HAS HE NOT WON A PULITZER?

Straight out of Putin's mouth.
Sow diversion in the US.

Not truth, probably not strictly antisemitic (in the sense that he doesn't really believe it), but it's there to throw shit and stir trouble.

Conservatives are still torn between Epstein and their hatred of Democrats:

Look at Canada and Mexico now. Great work Trump.

But frustratingly nobody in the US gives a shit about him ruining the relationships with both of our neighbors and top 2 trading partners. Because we aren't a serious country anymore.

I am surprised more Americans don't put America as the top threat.
