What makes you think he does not want to pardon neo-nazis?

Yes, many of the are after "fine people" "patriots" etc.

Also he'll need as many storm-troopers as possible for his 2024 march on Washington.

I believe he can pardon entire categories of people.  Carter pardoned the Vietnam War draft dodgers for example.

Oh right.  Good call.

I'm going to predict:

Assange
Kyle Rittenhouse
some, but not all, of the Jan 6 rioters
Guiliani

And NOT:
Trump himself
his family
Steve Bannon

Plus a whole bunch of very obviously purchased pardons by various wealthy people

Rittenhaus is facing state charges,* so Trump's pardon will have no effect. Of course, that doesn't mean Trump won't try to pardon him.

* I believe he could be charged with a federal crime of transporting a gun across state lines or something, but was not charged with that.

Thanks for the clarification on RIttenhouse.

I'll also add to the prediction list: Joe Exotic (the Tiger King).

I heard on a Podcast yesterday that the commentator was glad it was a fairly narrow list of names that is being circulated, because if Trump was really in a "just let it burn" mood he could start granting clemency to whole swaths of criminals.  For example, release every violent and sex offender from Delaware just to fuck with Biden.

I think it won't be Giuliani, out of spite.

Would be pretty hard to put a positive spin on releasing violent criminals and sex offenders. If any of them ever committed a crime again, it'd be "Trump pardoned this guy and he just [committed horrible crime described in graphic detail]." That's not a look very many people want to wear.

Well certainly.  It would be an absolutely horrific idea.

Doesn't mean Trump couldn't do it.

I wonder if pardons have to formally include the pardonee's name, or could he just write "all the riot guys?"

I think Carter did a mass pardon of people who fled to Canada to escape the draft.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

One more day to go before Trump steps down.  Can't wait to be finally rid of him.

He seems to have entirely disappeared after the Twitter ban though.

He couldn't do it anyway because violent and sex crimes are almost always state crimes.

Unless he wanted to limit deviousness to Washington DC.

I'm embarrassed. I've been making the mistake of associating with you. It won't happen again. :)

I think blanket pardons for people who violated the Volstead Act during prohibition was how FDR racked up such a huge number of pardons as well.

I could see him pardoning all the riot guys except the ones that killed or assaulted cops.

I could also see him saying "fuck it, these losers can't do anything for me anymore.  Let 'em rot."

You just said he didn't want to pardon neo-nazis.  Still wondering why you think that.
