I think there is a question whether National Guard was actually needed. A few thousand of the most ridiculous losers in the country--who were apparently mostly unarmed--apparently walked into the capitol building without a shot fired to stop them. The officer who was killed apparently was hit in the head with a fire extinguisher that was in the building.

Except there were also professional soldiers with weapons and zip ties there, hunting the VP and members of congress. It wasn't all just MAGA Pepe incels.

You don't want shots fired to protect a building.  But a bunch of National Guard troopers would have been more likely to help keep this mess out of the capitol building in the first place.

It isn't just about "protecting a building". All 535 elected federal representatives were in there, plus the vice president. It is about protecting them and their ability to conduct the people's business.

Feds have arrested the guy they believe is the Capitol rioter who was photographed sitting at Nancy Pelosi's desk during the failed coup ... TMZ has confirmed.



Federal law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... feds arrested Richard Barnett in Arkansas and charged him with entering and remaining on restricting grounds, violent entry and theft of public property. Barnett is believed to be the guy who was photographed inside the House Speaker's office ... with his feet kicked up. He also seems to be the guy taking a selfie with Pelosi's mail and also left a note that read, "We will not back down."

Huh, am I not understanding some lawyer stuff?  Ben Sasse is relaying what Trump staffer told him.  That's just plain vanilla hearsay, I assume the Trump staffer didn't read about Trump's reaction in Vox, but rather witnessed it personally.  Where do the other 3-4 levels of hearsay come in?  We can hear what Sasse is saying directly, so I don't see any more hearsay here.  What am I missing?

Two things dampen enthusiasm very quickly:
1.  Hearing the pump action of a shotgun in the dark
2.  Hearing a military unit facing you receive the order "fix bayonets."
