What does a TRUMP presidency look like?

It's easy to laugh at Trump, but I think senior national security officials acting out their briefings with He-Man action figures in front of the President will be fondly remembered as a charming part of US history. I know I won't let Americans forget.

Interesting from Carl Bernstein:

I'm not violating any pledge of journalistic confidentially in reporting this: 21 Republican Sens–in convos w/ colleagues, staff members, lobbyists, W. House aides–have repeatedly expressed extreme contempt for Trump & his fitness to be POTUS. (1/3)
The 21 GOP Senators who have privately expressed their disdain for Trump are: Portman, Alexander, Sasse, Blunt, Collins, Murkowski, Cornyn, Thune, Romney, Braun, Young, Tim Scott, Rick Scott, Rubio, Grassley, Burr, Toomey, McSally, Moran, Roberts, Shelby. (2/3)
With few exceptions, their craven public silence has helped enable Trump's most grievous conduct—including undermining and discrediting the US the electoral system.

There are enough there that they always had leverage or even to provide each other cover to at least, say, compel testimony from Bolton during the impeachment hearing. But they never actually did anything except, I imagine fairly regularly, express their contempt <_<

Sometimes politicians tell people what they want to hear. It's kinda their thing. I wouldn't put too much stock on that "contempt".

Yeah, I don't think anyone trusts the word of a Trumpist. Nice try of them, though.

So, when Trump finally ends up becoming a former prez, what kind of perks will he retain for life? I guess he'll keep some kind of secret service protection, as well as the presidential library and some staff, right?
I wonder how that works. Will they station a detail outside his cell? Will they follow him around the yard?

There is no way old bipartisan Joe Biden is going to go after Donald Trump and his associates.

I think it's possible that he will get a different form of justice than the average person, but is that Joe's call?

Does an ex-President have to pass a security check to get access to sensitive briefings? I assume that a sitting President is above things like security checks by virtue of his office. But is ex-President in any way an official position that has a right to special treatment? I can't see Trump passing any kind of security check.

Does Trump have to pardon a Thanksgiving turkey? Because I feel like that's going to be his first public event after sort of conceding and it has a lot of potential

Maybe the turkey will be Michael Flynn in disguise?

I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011
