It's more of a general thought but I got reminded that all you Americans should not despair at all at the daily evidences of Trump's stupidity - him being a talentless hot air baloon buffon is extremely lucky. Can you imagine if he had brains? With the servile GOP at the helm, he would have been halfway done already building an Orban/Putin style regime.

What comes through clearly in Barr's latest statement is Berman's statement last night was accurate. Berman did not resign and did not tell Barr was resigning; Barr tried to force his hand with a fait accompli press release, and Berman wrecked the plan to bury the story by refusing to go along with the lie.

Barr is right that the President has the power to dismiss Berman but his letter, while claiming Trump has done that, does not attach any such communication.  If the President wants to dismiss Berman, he needs to dismiss Berman.  Having someone else say he did it isn't the same thing.

That's what it looks like to me too.

Berman is sharp, he noticed that Trump is allergic to taking any kind of responsibility, he always leaves room to put blame on subordinates.
