It is unlikely any side can scored a huge ass kicking like the old days anytime soon. The two parties are just too polarized and dominated by insane fanatics for that to happen. Those sorts of numbers among the partisans is expected.

The bigger problem is the fact that the Senate elections line up very bad for us.

The fact he is recording high among the independents is worrying.

Would be interesting to see how the numbers of each group have changed over the Trump presidency. I could see a number of voters who were formerly Republicans but now identify as "Independents" in the age of Trump, but still vote more or less in step with the Trumpified Republican Party.

The problem is you never really know what's in the grab bag when you're talking about the "independents." You could be talking about DSA (Democratic Socialists of America) Bernie-backing types, or you could be talking about hardcore Randian Libertarians who are practically jizzing themselves at the speed with which Trump and co. are dismantling or discrediting federal agencies.
