Now that's the sort of news I expected to hear when Trump got elected.

QuoteStocks post worst start to April since the Great Depression

•With the S&P 500 closing down more than 2.2 percent Monday, the broad market index clinched its worst start to April since 1929.
•"Based on recent market action, the bears clearly have control right now," Bespoke Co-Founder Justin Walters wrote.
•The S&P 500 fell back into correction Monday as technology led the market lower, with names like Amazon and Netflix both down more than 5 percent.

Did you guys catch the bit about Trump backing out of the free trade deal he agreed on with South Korea, to put pressure on North Korea?

QuoteTrump, Lacking Leverage Over North Korea, Takes Aim at South Instead

SEOUL, South Korea — South Korea settled disputes with the Trump administration over steel tariffs and the revision of a free-trade agreement this week. With those stumbling blocks cleared, it hoped the two governments could focus on the more pressing crisis of North Korea's nuclear weapons.

As it turned out, South Korea was celebrating too early.

On Thursday, President Trump said he might postpone finalizing the trade agreement with South Korea, which he had earlier described as "a wonderful deal with a wonderful ally," until he secured a deal in denuclearizing North Korea.

"You know why?" he said. "Because it's a very strong card."

By tying a trade deal with South Korea to progress in denuclearizing North Korea, Mr. Trump is showing how little direct leverage Washington has over the isolated, nuclear-armed North just as South Korea and the United States prepare for talks with Kim Jong-un, the North's leader.

Yeah, I noticed.

And you left it for Jacob to tell us? You're falling behind on the job. Tsk tsk.

Yeah, I noticed. Dude is dumber than a sack of hammers.

It really is dumb.  It encourages SK to advocate for a deal with NK, but they don't need any additional incentive.  OTOH NK has more reason to not agree, since it'll screw over SK.

Why is Trump helping North Korea? Is it an order from Putin?

 Putin would never give orders to Trump.  That's about the least effective way of influencing him.

I'm now hearing that Trump wants to use US government power to go after Amazon in whatever ways he can to hurt Bezos. That seems somewhat problematic and potentially illegal, no?

Possibly, but nothing will happen. What did Bezos do?

He won't be if the economy keeps tanking.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Amazon pushes brick & mortar business out of, well, business. Which affects Real estate markets, all the people Trump tries to impress, be like are real estate moguls.

I don't think Amazon is at much risk.  It is a low cost, low/no debt operation.  It competes against retailers who are highly leveraged and have high costs.

Can't the Post just start publishing Trump apologias like WSJ? Or is it just Swedish moronic conservative newspapers that quote WSJ a lot along the lines of "Trump actually isn't that bad"? Is WSJ still a Murdoch rag?
