I think you should single out Republicans, because as far as I know the Democrats have not taken it to this whole new level.

I was talking about the partisanship and the atmosphere it has created not the other bullshit.

I don't want to single out the Republicans here because both sides do it but this just takes it to a whole new level and again if there was anything I thought I could count on these guys for it was hyper-patriotism and commitment to conservative values. But fuck all that shit, Donald Trump must be protected.
 Enough with the "both sides do it" bullshit.  Reflexive "both sides do it" bullshit is deleting accountability from the political process.

That's still just as much of a bullshit.  When one guy punches another, and that other guy punches back, it's not just a general atmosphere of lack of civility.  It's an atmosphere of one guy justifiably reacting in defense, even if he appears to do the exactly same thing as the aggressor.

No, that is not what is deleting accountability.

It is.  When both sides do it, you can't really punish one side.  The best course of action then is to pretend to be wise and hedge endlessly while pondering the cynicism of it all.

If the voters are blinded by partisanship they will never hold either side accountable for anything.

If things were working right the Republican voters should be jumping ship and putting their party out to pasture until they get their shit together, but they are so convinced we are the devil they will not.

Give it up, Valmy;  DGuller's just to partisan himself to admit that the Democrats protect their own, too.

And he's wrong, anyway;  the best course of action is to support individuals who are willing to go against their party leadership and criticize and oppose bad behavior by members of their own party, not worrying about punishing one side or the other.  This crap needs to be fought in the primaries of both parties.

Indeed.

The adamant refusal to recognize that there is anything wrong in your own house is what gave is Hillary Clinton as the only Dem candidate in the entire country, among other examples.

I'm with DGuller on this.  What some Republicans are doing to protect Trump has no equivalent in American political history.

I don't disagree with that.

I agree.  There's partisanship, then there's covering up and protecting potential treason.  Defending Trump when he says stupid shit is partisanship.  Defending Trump when his every action screams "I'm a Russian stooge" is something else entirely.

Which, ironically, restates the very position Valmy took that DGuller objected to!

That isn't what we are talking about.

If that WAS what we were talking about, I am definitely with dguller as well.

The 30% Right is engaging in treason, as far as I am concerned.
