Jesus the GOP got massacred tonight :hmm:

To be quite honest, I didn't think the capital of the Confederacy had it in her.
It rained cats and dogs today, the traitorous Donna Brassiere's bullshit is at high tide and, between the Charlottesville nonsense and Confederate statues, it might have been enough to keep people home and bring out all the redneck Nazi creepy ass crackers in force.

It was cold and rainy as fuck in NoVA today and I didn't expect such a massive turn around either. I thought all the yuppies would just skip voting and go straight home after leaving DC.

I'm on the Maryland side, but it was a ghost town at work by 3:30, 4pm when all the VA residents hauled ass home.
I think they want that Human Cheetos Stain's portrait off the lobby walls as soon as fucking possible.

I did my part, and voted straight ticket for Democrats.  Didn't know who most of them were, didn't give a shit.  Now is not the time to overthink it.

It would be very hard to ascribe the success of NY finance to the NY state education system, or the success of Silicon Valley to Berkeley or Cal State Fullerton.

I think any credible educational historian would abslutely link the rise of Silicon Valley to the fact that the California public university system is considered to be a model for incredibly effective university educations.

The existence of a highly trained and competent pool of technology professionals is certainly a necessary condition for the rise of a dominant technology sector. I don't think that is even a remotely difficult argument to make - quite the opposite in fact.

It's kind of amazing that people actually argue that education doesn't matter. Or that infrastructure isn't important. Or that good public education has nothing to do with why some states thrive and others do not, even when the correlation is staring them right in the face.

I don't think a focus on good public schools in the northeast having something to do with higher relative standards of living is a particularly radical argument.

Dems are up 13 seats in the House of Delegates. From 34 to 47, with seven seats still counting split 4-3 GOP/Dem. So that would leave the House split 50-50 with a Dem Governor.

Promising sign for 2018 I think.

Yeah, but remember Old Dominion went for Hillary.

Yeah, but remember Old Dominion went for Hillary.

It was not nearly the margin of victory that was expected before the election, however.  It only around 80,000 votes.

True but their current congressional delegation is dominated by Republicans.

My sister got the most votes for her village council seat (top 4 got elected, 6 were running).  Knowing her, we'll see if she can deal with the BS of the job.

What is her position on the divisive issue of cricket fields?

Our election was boring-- Township Council, a local judge or two, 3 tax levy renewals, school board, and a couple state ballot proposals.

Probably best if she remains neutral on the issue.

Even I can go to the websites of CNN, BBC, Facebook etc in Beijing.  It isn't a big deal.  Lots of Chinese go overseas anyway.  The firewall isn't designed to block everything all the time.
