 It's going to be one of the greatest Republican land slide victory since the Civil War.

Ain't that the truth.  #McGovern72
Pyrrhic victory.  Republicans having paying the price for Nixon's crookedness to this day.

Sean Hannity should feel fortunate he isn't listed in any indictments.

For what?

I have never felt better informed by watching MSNBC.  Misinformed, yes.  Never better informed.

It's been my go-to on election nights :)

Aiding and abetting fraud and false advertising, Fox claims to be a news provider but Hannity is just a an entertainer purveying bullshit for amusement.

QuoteJohn Kelly: Civil War started because of a 'lack of ability to compromise'

White House chief of staff John Kelly weighed in on the Confederate statue debate Monday night, suggesting that the Civil War was "cause by a lack of an ability to compromise.

Kelly argued during the debut of Laura Ingraham's new Fox News show, "The Ingraham Angle," that "history is history" and the Confederate statues should stay.

"There are certain things in history that were good, and other things that were not so good," Kelly said. "The lack of an ability to compromise led to the Civil War, and men and women of good faith on both sides made their stand where their conscience had them make their stand."

Kelly's assertion echoed Trump's comments made after the violent white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Va., in August, when the president said that people on "both sides" were to blame for the violence. The Charlottesville rally was spurred by a movement to remove a statue of Confederate general Robert E. Lee.

Kelly late Monday also weighed in on Lee specifically, calling him an "honorable" man.

"Robert E. Lee was an honorable man, he was a man that gave up his country to fight for his state, which 150 years ago was more important than country," Kelly told Ingraham. "Now, it's different."
"I've never been quite sure what the point of a eunuch is, if truth be told. It seems to me they're only men with the useful bits cut off."

Hmmm, a compromise, a compromise ... how about no more slave states from the 1859 list, and in ones existing in 1859, if the US only enslaves half of the Black population?  :hmm:

Morally I'd like to believe there is a special place in hell for sociopathic propagandists like Hannity.  Having watched the Russian state TV for almost two decades now, there has long ceased to be a meaningful difference between the methods of Russian state TV and the methods of Murdoch's empire.  This is one of the reasons I had tremendous disdain for the US right wing long before it ceased being fashionable to employ false equivalence.

Unfortunately, unless there turns out to be a direct link between the two and not just an uncoordinated dissemination of industry knowledge, Murdoch's empire doesn't appear to be legally in the wrong.  Like tobacco industry marketing people, they legally earn their living by cutting short the living of countless other people.

Well he is not wrong. If the Slave Owners had agreed that no slaves could be brought into the territories or into the non-slave states (without setting them free anyway) there would have been no war. But that was farther than they were willing to go.

And since when did personal honor matter for Trump supporters? He thinks honor is for losers and stupid people.

Hannity is just separating the fools and their money.  Somebody's got to do it, since Alex Jones is so laughably inept at it.

And I don't think Fox claims to be a news provider.  The shows there tell people what to think about the news that the people hear elsewhere.

Honor has nothing to do with it.  Lee fought for the Confederacy out of naked self-interest, no matter how many crocodile tears he shed for the US.

We can acknowledge Lee's exemplary conduct after the war without believing that he fought to preserve slavery for "honorable" reasons.

Hey I am not talking about the real Lee I am talking about the one John Kelly was praising :P

The Minsky Moment

So if the war happened because the slaveholders refused to compromise, and their stubbornness caused all those people to die, why should we have monuments glorifying them?

(surely he is not blaming Lincoln for lack of compromise?  Right?)

Of course not. That would be ridiculous. Lincoln was not even in office until the crisis was already far past the point of no return and I am sure Mr. Kelly knows the details of this conflict very intimately.
