Trump has said that hate groups are bad.  The problem is that he either equivocates (this hate comes from many sides) or mitigates their evils (there are wonderful people on both sides); which has led many people (myself included^1.) to conclude that Trump is insincere in his condemnation.

As a positive view on all this, seeing the national uproar over the nazis, and  the local government and civil actions against these statues, especially how for the latter people take responsibility and give themselves up, seem to show me that these actions are not signs of the far-right being stronger than usual, but rather, going on a desperate offensive sensing the times getting past them.

If we accept the methodology of the SPLC that I posted a few pages back, then the number of hate groups is down, and the number of white supremacist groups is way down, from Barack's first term in office.  I don't think that this is a move of desperation, though.  I think that they think that their views have widespread acceptance due to Trump's election; whom they see as an ally.  They're striking while the iron is hot.

If society manages to avoid being provoked into creating an environment that prefers these scumbags (e.g. Street violence on political grounds, hysteria and witch hunts), and just continue on the positive road we have been on the past couple of decades, the far-right, in the developed world at least, will lose.

I'm pretty sure Michael Bay is a fascist, we should bring back the blacklist.

If I don't want to hear about something, I will not ask a question about it.  I would assume am I discussing with grown up, mature individual, but that's clearly a mistake with the far left.  So, be my guest.  Confront the nazis, use violence, get fucked up, die an horrible death, it won't change anything in my life.  This is just what America needs, more violence.  Everything will be allright once enough blood has spilled in the streets. 

If history has taught us one thing, it's that fighting violent extremist movements with another violent extremist movement always has the desired effect, so there's really no problem in advocating violence against those you don't like.

All of this was illegal.  Fines up to 5000$ per incident for the union alliance as per the law.  None were fined.  None were bothered.  When entrepreneurs and workers called the cop, to protect their right to work, the union got their way as workers were expelled from the site anyway.  "For your own security sir".

That's not the way to fight the ideas spread by the far right.  If you want to organize a counter protest, make it in another part of the city, at another time, invite 5x times more people to spread your message of peace.

They are there looking for trouble, armed with guns and shields.  Let the authorities deal with them.  Organize your own protest elsewhere with more people.  Simple, yet effective.  No violence involved from the left.  If the right wing protest turns violent, than they have no one but themselves to blame.

The New York Times just had an article on the Antifa movement:

(I assume this is what you're referring to as the other side.)  Two take-aways that I have are:

1.)  The Antifas don't have a unified ideology, they're simply unified in their desire to (literally) fight the far right.
2.)  The members of this movement are very young

With these two factors I doubt this movement will be able to accomplish much of anything.  Due to their lack of a common outlook they have to be a reactive group rather than a pro-active group.  I don't support political violence; but I don't think this is really a cause for concern.
