Where they particularly incompetent Lieutenant Governors?
They were named for their political connections ;)

Nothing really bad if you're a loyal subject of his/her majesty.  Anglo power, assimilation of the French population, deportation of indians, forced cultural assimilation, that kind of basic stuff most empires do.

Lots of what is now canadian territory belonged to the Hudson Bay Company, a private corporation operating under their own laws.  What happenned in HBC controlled territory wasn't really taught in school when I attended my history classes and the Wikipedia articles aren't pretty thorough, so Oex would know better than me.

It was mostly unpopulated by white settlers, which was the way the company liked it.

I think the only settlement was the Red River settlement (which eventually became Manitoba), which the company treated with a kind of benign neglect.
I think there was a small settlement/port in the James Bay area.

Okay, Viper doesn't really like Trudeau.

He's a bit hard core. In pretty sure he'd have voted for Canadian trump over Trudeau.
I don't have anything against immigrants and I want rationality in politics, something Trump and most of the Republican party are not good at.

That reads a lot like the Indictment portion of the Declaration of Independence :hmm:

He has waged cruel war on Russian Olympic hockey.

Not saying you be out with placards, but given the scenario you'd vote Canadian trump. You have a very strong liberal dislike (I'd say irrational hate).

Ah, there's more--

QuoteTrump administration choosing to replace several senior State Department diplomats

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/trump-administration-choosing-to-replace-several-senior-state-department-diplomats/2017/01/26/0c9e19e0-e3f8-11e6-a453-19ec4b3d09ba_story.html?hpid=hp_hp-top-table-main_state-225pm%3Ahomepage%2Fstory

Several career Foreign Service officers were informed this week that they will not be asked to stay on in senior or sensitive posts that are under direct White House control. Officials at the level of assistant secretary and above were affected, State Department officials said.

When Rex Tillerson is confirmed as secretary of state next week, he will face an unusual leadership vacuum among senior ranks of the State Department, the result of resignations and a Trump administration decision not to ask career diplomats to remain in top-level posts.

Although the diplomats were not technically fired, the Trump administration opted to remove a number of top officials in charge of the State Department's 13 divisions responsible for policy, security and other matters. Those positions may be filled either by Foreign Service officers or outside policy experts. In past administrations, many have remained in their posts when the White House changed hands.

Wait so did the rest mass resign on solidarity or something?

Looks like they were all pushed out.  Obviously not team players.

There is nothing irrational about my dislike of the Liberals, everything is grounded in facts, unlike the irrational hatred of the anti-Harper crowd who called him Hitler.

And as I stated in the past, when the choice was to vote for:
a) a leftist moron who hates the regions of Quebec because we're not leftwing enough
b) a right winger who opposes official bilinguism and doesn't even bother to learn both of our official languages
c) a corrupt Liberal moron with difficulties in both of our official languages

and I chose not to vote at the Federal election.

The probability that I'd vote for any irrational racist moron telling people what they want to hear is nil.

You don't need a State department any more than an EPA.

Hey I voted for Harper until he started going in a direction I did not like.

Maybe they want a more business oriented state department!

That was basically the line in Hungary, when the old (fidesz) party guard foreign minister and his entire staff was pushed out, in favour of an Orban lackey with zero diplomatic experience.

They decreed the future of diplomacy is to "serve national economic interests" and so they would fill up the ranks with... the futsal team mates of the new minister.
