Hey Minsky, you travel in the whole "international financial cabal" circle thingy up there in Manhattan, what with being a dirty Jew and stuff...how's the Trumpenreich's Zionist antisemitism going over with the whole Bright Goldman, Big Sachs crowd? Anybody worried about the war criminal in the Cabela's field jacket? Or as long as everyone's waiting for the floodgates to open once the SEC is disbanded, who gives a fuck?  What's the pulse up there?

Minsky's bug out plan: go to Farhampton. Because that's, like, the end of the world, right?

Just like the lobbies of his casinos and hotels, he likes his talking heads like he likes his reflecting pools:  pretty and shallow.*

On the bright side, considering his campaign's relationship with the media, I doubt the White House communications team is going to be all that busy.

*Kellyanne Conaway a notable exception.  Looks like an open-face sandwich somebody left under a heat lamp way too long, all stringy and dry.

So I guess those ambassadorships didn't do the trick at the end

The so-called "A" list celebrities are all wanting tixs to the inauguration, but look what they did for Hillary, NOTHING. I want the PEOPLE!

Syt

I thought I read that celebrities were giving him the cold shoulder with regards to the inauguration?

I read the tweet as "they're not giving me the cold shoulder, it's ME that I want DAH PIPOL instead"

Syt

Possible. Also, "tixs"? Is he a 13 year old girl?

Businesses must love it when dirty laundry is made public via Twitter. How was the saying about malice and incompetence?

Where can I find odds and lay a bet that Trump will be the first* president to be replaced by the VP, because of declining mental fitness?

It may be the only logical explanation.

The Minsky Moment

He's definitely got some support in the hedge fund world - they've been craving higher interest rates and more volatility and Trump looks like he'll deliver.  As for the more conventional banks, they would be very happy to see lower taxes, higher interest rates, and less regulation, and they certainly appreciate the run up on their shares.  Mnuchin in Treasury and Cohn in the White House are reassuring.  On the flip side the big banks have significant Asian and Latin American operations and so there is nervousness about China and the trade agenda.

Overall, from a business POV Trump probably looks pretty good, but that's not the whole picture.  Goldman Sachs types tend to be Ivy educated, they collect art, compete to get on the board of the Met Opera, go to chic restaurants etc.  Culturally they aren't a fit for the Bannonist side of Trump.  Also Goldman specifically has a mentality that they smarter then everyone else and so will be able to take advantage of whatever political situation arises.  Yes they'd like deregulation but they can do just fine without it and even exploit the situation as is.  So overall the Trump love probably isn't anywhere near what one would expect based on the policy mix.

As for the Jewish angle, the wave of antisemitic incidents in the week following the election seems to have subsided. There is thinking that Kushner will look after things for the Tribe in the White House.  A bit wishful thinking probably.
