He's been diagnosed with cool guy syndrome?
Women want me. Men want to be with me.

i figured since he was in new york in the 70's he must have indulged. the fact that he's as old as he is, is all hyped up, incoherent, and can't sleep made me think coke.

I've never heard cocaine for Trump.  Don Jr is a different story.

But to the extent I heard Trump used drugs it was adderall or ephedrine.
Yeah - given Trump's other issues (germs etc) I imagine he is a prescription drugs guy, but I think he was probably the most heavily drugged president this side of JFK.

Trump Jr and his wife definitely use coke though

Some people seem to be gifted with the ability to get four hours of sleep per night without suffering any effects of sleep deprivation.

He doesn't drink, and apparently never has.  He's an odd duck.

Adderall and ephedrine would have those symptoms also.  Plus they're not street drugs.

true, in retrospect i agree with you and sheilbh, he's a laboratory produced FDA inspected guy.

Thatcher was famous for this.
I am noticing a commonality of being evil shits. :p

This sort of healthy sleep deprivation is linked to developing mental problems in later life. Rather than dying most likely for trump is his senility deepens into full blown dementia.

I wonder to what degree the Supreme Court is in the bag for a GOP coup in the next two to ten years.

What makes you think the Court will have any role to play?

I know this was a left-wing talking point later in Thatcher's life but is there any actual evidence for this?

I'd assume some sort of coup action would be litigated, eventually ending up in front of the supreme court. Note, I'm not saying that the perpetrators of a coup would necessarily obey the court if it ruled against them.

I wasn't aware it was a left wing talking point. It's pretty widely known.
A quick glance at Wikipedia it references this interview with her daughter where she says as much

The 2020 election was litigated numerous times, and famously was defeated in every single lawsuit but one (and that one was on a minor procedural point).  I believe the USSC refused to hear the case.  Many of those judges ruling against Trump were Trump appointments.

It's impossible to see the future.  Perhaps if the GOP/Trump come up with a more sophisticated and nuanced strategy to steal the election they might have success.  But so far there's little to suggest the courts will go along with it.

Yeah and I think it started as a right-wing talking point about her indefatigability - it was mentioned by her biographer, her press secretary, her party chairman. It wwas apparently an issue wwhen Major took over because it took a while for civil servants to adopt to someone with more normal working hours

It's not just a right-ing thing though - Clinton was famous for not sleeping much and having very erratic working hours, Brown similarly worked very late. Churchill also operated on four hours a night (with a healthy afternoon nap ).

Of course all of them were staying up late not rage-tweeting or bingeing on Fox.

Do they need to if they have enough states/state legislatures?

If the next GOP coup succeeds the courts won't have to worry their pretty heads.

There is an election today in California (it's a recall thing, which is bullshit in my opinion). The Republican, Larry Elders is already claiming that if he loses it will be because of electoral fraud.  The damage is done.  We have a significant portion of the country that no longer believes in elections.  How they believe they should retake political power in this country is not something that is pleasant to dwell upon.
Trump's already said (I think yesterday) there's a massive fraud underway in California - which I'm sure Republican strategists were thrilled with from a GOTV perspective:

So now it's probably a loyalty thing.

Yeah, it is a loyalty thing now.  The vaccine has become a loyalty thing as well.  People are asking to get the vaccine in secret because they don't want to be labeled a Democrat.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011
